Cats sign Clemmensen and Koistinen to multi-year deals

Scott Clemmensen signs a 3-year deal worth $3.6 million. The former New Jersey back-up goalie, who had a break-out season in Brodeurs absense, will provide Tomas Vokoun with some competition in goal. He may also have a chance to push for the first spot – seeing as Coach Peter DeBoer likes to rotate the netminders and go with whatever goalkeeper brings him the win and is not shy of benching the supposed No.1 goalie. Clemmensen got 25 wins under his belt last year with the Devils.

Meanwhile, the Finnish defenseman Ville Koistinen was signed on a 2-year deal. Koistinen spent the last two seasons with the Nashville Predators; racking up 21 points. He is a 6-2, 200 pound, speedy defenseman that will provide competition for places in the currently depleted Floridian blueline. He’ll also bring a Finnish presence to the Panthers as they gear up to start off the season in Helsinki, Finland.
